ADC-Holland
ADC-Holland is a laboratory for sex identification of parrots and parakeets.
Female and male birds differ in their sex chromosomes. Female birds are
heterogametic as they have two different sex chromosomes (ZW) and male birds are
homogametic (ZZ) as they have two identical sex chromosomes. For sex
determination the laboratory detects female specific DNA sequences which are
located on the W chromosome.

the tip of the feather should not be touched. Five feathers per bird are needed
which have to be enclosed in a sample bag. Please, write down the bird
identification number and species' name on each bag.
